Nature in the Luxembourg Ardennes

The region of the Ardennes is characterised by a hilly landscape and large leafy forests.

Its main hilly areas are interspersed with picturesque valleys, the most stunning of which are those of the Blees, Clerve, Our, Sûre and Wiltz rivers.

Cultural walk Rodange-Reenert

During the creation of the epic REENERT poem (1866-1873), Michel RODANGE lived in Wiltz.

The house, now known as ‘’Café Reenert’’ exists to this day.

Amidst great festivities to commemorate Michel RODANGE’s 100th anniversary in 1927, a bronze plaque (an dësem Haus schruw de Michel Rodange säi Reenert= here in this house Michel Rodange wrote ‘’Reenert’’) was attached to the building.

In 1997, a medal representing REENERT’s author was added. Given the most generous donation of a beautiful hundred and fifty-year-old park by the brothers Eugène and Théo Simon to their home town of Wiltz, this location became the entire monument…a cultural park, the walk through which today combines culture, the arts and nature in a most exquisite and thought-provoking way.

To realize this great idea of a monumental cultural park, the Ministry of Culture, the town council of Wiltz and the association ‘’Actioun-Lëtztebuergesch/Eis Sprooch’’, set up a national subscription.

The sculptures were crafted in Verona from the finest marble from Egypt, Greece and Italy.

The ‘’RODANGE-REENERT Cultural Park’ in Wiltz, the capital of the Ardennes is well worth a visit ... be it by car or by railway (return journey Luxembourg-Wiltz every hour to the park, located 200m from the station)
